Swimming with dolphins

Dolphin Cove: You will be able to swim with dolphins and sharks on this natural beach which has been especially prepared to receive visitors. Accompanied by a guide, you will have the chance to touch and feed these fascinating animals. A unique experience for the whole family.

Snorkelling

Trips leave from Ocho Ríos to discover the Ocho Ríos Marine Park, a large protected maritime zone that covers the area from Mammee Bay to Frankfort Point, to the east. On this coral reef there is an abundance of sponges, lobsters and coloured tropical fish, which will come and eat out of your hand.

Diving

Caverns: Numerous tunnels with a host of sharks and turtles. Another highlight is the wreckage of a minesweeper overrun by coral and tropical fish.

Devil's Reef: There is a spectacular vertical wall standing over 60 m high here, very rich in marine fauna.

Runaway Bay: Highlights are Ricky's Reefs, with numerous sponges, and the remains of a 30-metre tug, the Reggae Queen, containing abundant biodiversity.

Excursions on horseback

Chukka Cove: This excursion, which takes several hours, ends up in the beautiful cove of Chukka, where you will go into the water with your horse.

Project Plantation: Stroll amongst the crops - bananas, coconuts, coffee and pineapples - on this plantation which is still operational. The views of the sea and the countryside are magnificent.

Golf

Sandals Ocho Ríos Golf and Country Club: One of Jamaica's most beautiful courses, running between the mountains near Ocho Ríos.

Specialities

Meat with curry and coconut milk: Chicken, pork and kid dishes with sauces made using curry (very common on the island) and coconut milk abound. This delicious way of preparing meat is reminiscent of Indian food.

Rum: Nowhere in the Caribbean is there a greater variety of rum than in Jamaica. You will find all kinds of rum, from smooth whites to extremely expensive, amber-coloured ones.

Coffee: Recognised as one of the best - and most expensive - coffees in the world.

Going out

Riu Pacha: This internationally famous nightclub is in the ClubHotel Riu Ocho Ríos in Mammee Bay. Good atmosphere and partying are guaranteed.

Shopping

Ocho Ríos: The Island Village shopping centre has a good selection of shops. You will find both international fashion and local craft products.
In the Great Pond district there is a production and sales centre for Wassi art, a delicate form of Jamaican ceramics.

Nine Mile: Bob Marley's birthplace

Bob Marley, the king of reggae, was born and died in this small town. You can visit the cabin where he spent the first years of his life; Mount Zion, his place of inspiration and where he learned to play the guitar; and his tomb, in a small mausoleum inside a beautiful Ethiopian-style church.

Green Grotto Caves

These caves and tunnels running for over 16 km are remarkable for their impressive subterranean lake and the pre-Columbian paintings made by the Arawaks, the former settlers of Jamaica.
