Chiclana in 2 Days: Lavish comforts at our Riu Chiclana Hotel
The pleasant city of Chiclana has achieved something very difficult: it has become Cadiz’s tourism center while avoiding overcrowding and respecting its exceptional surroundings. By staying at ClubHotel Riu Chiclana you will be in the perfect location to enjoy its beaches, visit the best of Chiclana and delight in the area's fantastic gastronomy .
Day 1: Activities on La Barrosa beach and Tapas in Chiclana's Historic District
When you arrive in Chiclana put on your bathing suit and head straight to La Barrosa beach, one of the best beaches in Spain. If you like action, take the opportunity to enjoy one of the multiple sporting options available: surfing, windsurfing, sailing...
At midday, when hunger strikes, it is time to taste the renowned local gastronomy: some tapas and a good wine in one of the beach bars on the promenade is a fantastic option which will delight your palate and immerse yourself in the flavors of Andalusia.
For an enjoyable afternoon, take one of the boats which depart from the recreational port and take you to the Castle of Sancti Petri, a relaxing trip which will allow you to enjoy the sea breeze and forget about the heat for a bit.
When you return, take advantage of the evening to stroll through the town's historic district. Notice the difference between the two areas separated by the Iro River. In “El Lugar" you will find the former homes of noblemen and religious buildings, while "La Banda" is home to important wineries and the Bullfighting Museum. Among the narrow streets you can find a good spot to order typical Chiclana collard greens for dinner, or if you prefer, you can return to the ClubHotel Riu Chiclana and enjoy its buffet and its evening entertainment.
Day 2: Visit Cadiz and Take a Trip to Arcos de la Frontera
If you have strolled through Chiclana, we recommend you use your second day to get to know more about the region in Andalusia where it is nestled. Take a trip to the capital Cadiz to roam its narrow streets and immerse yourself in its fishing village spirit. Do not miss its cathedral or its promenade.
In the afternoon, visit Arcos de la Frontera, the so-called "city of poets", and get to know its marvelous whitewashed buildings; or go see the thousand-year-old town of Medina Sidonia and stop by the Santos Mártires Chapel, the oldest church in Andalusia.
Another option for those who want to avoid driving on their vacation, is to go for a walk, a bike ride or a ride on horseback which will take you to the most beautiful sea and countryside landscapes in the area.
End the day at one of ClubHotel Riu Chiclana's restaurants which will give you a taste of the delicious flavors of Andalusia and afterwards, have fun all night long at its nightclub.
