Paradise Island in 2 days
Paradise Island’s name could not be more appropriate. Here you will find beaches, exciting nightlife and popular attractions like Atlantis, the Caribbean’s premier leisure resort, with a casino, a waterpark and an aquarium. A bridge connects it to the city of Nassau which, as well as picturesque colonial buildings, also offers excellent food and the chance to go duty-free shopping.
When you get to Paradise Island, treat yourself to a few hours rest. Make yourself at home at the Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island and get ready to spend a day on the beach. If you don’t feel like going anywhere, relax on the smooth white sands of Cabbage Beach. This animated area, right in front of your hotel, offers a number of options in terms of water sports. However, if you are looking for some peace and quiet, take a stroll along the shore until you come to a more tranquil spot.
Since you are so close to the Atlantis resort, you could spend the afternoon there. Don’t miss its fascinating aquarium. Later you can try out some Bahamian dishes like steamed crab or the famous Guava Duff pudding. Afterwards, you can spend the night at its bustling casino.
On your second day, you can go to the nearby island of New Providence and take a stroll in its famous capital, Nassau. Admire its colonial architecture, with distinguished buildings like the flamingo-pink Bahamian Parliament, located in Rawson Square. Take a wander through the city and make your way to Fort Charlotte and Fort Fincastle, two 18th-century defensive constructions.
Now you are on New Providence, you shouldn’t miss Clifton National Park. A good idea is to hire a guide to tell you the history of this former plantation where slaves worked for over 200 years, and to take you to beaches that have been used to film movies like Jaws. If you have your swimsuit with you, you will love a dip at one of these quiet beaches, away from the more touristy areas.
Back at your hotel, enjoy the fantastic buffet at the Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island. It includes a wide range of dishes that are sure to please.
