Mallorca in 3 Days: RIU’s splendid collection of Majorca Hotel Resorts

Because of its beauty, diverse landscape and rich culture, Mallorca has become the most popular tourist destination in the Mediterranean. Here you will find everything: long sandy beaches with crystalline waters, small untouched coves, spectacular mountainous areas and villages and cities with a rich artistic and architectural history.

It is the perfect place for a vacation where everyone will have what they most love within their reach: entertainment on the beach and areas full of nightlife, relaxation, culture and nature in the capital and in the small villages of the Serra de Tramuntana.

If you spend a few days at one of the RIU hotels in Mallorca, you'll enjoy the beaches at the doorstep of your accommodations to the fullest, however we recommend you spend a portion of your time getting to know the fabulous area around you.

The following are several options so that you can choose the one which best fits you.

Day 1: Visit Palma during the day and party in S'Arenal in the evening

The city of Palma is a must see if you are on the island. You can reach the city in just a few minutes by car on the highway or in public transportation and have a wonderful afternoon after a fabulous morning on the beach. Get started by getting to know its striking cathedral and the surrounding area, the beautiful old town where you will see stately old homes with their beautiful patios and stone floors. Parc de la Mar is next door where you can stroll and take a seat at one of the many terraces and enjoy a beverage. If you prefer, right in front of the cathedral you'll find the fabulous Palacio de La Almudaina, the King of Spain's official residence on the island which is open to the public. You can also extend your walk to the Plaza Mayor and the shopping area surrounding it where you'll find both shops selling crafts, as well as major international brands.

You can take advantage of being in Palma to get to know the nightlife along the promenade, although if you prefer you will find quite a bit of entertainment around the Riu Playa de Palma hotels where there are many bars, terraces and clubs. Don't miss the party at Riu Palace!

Day 2: The Best of the Serra de Tramuntana

If you are in Mallorca you should spend a day exploring the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit its villages: Deia, Valldemossa, Soller… where numerous artists from different periods and of different origins have lived and gained inspiration. You should also visit some of their most beautiful historic buildings such as the Castell d’Alaró and the Monastir de Miramar. And remember, all of these spots have small beaches and hidden coves nearby which you should explore with your snorkel as the crystalline waters make them ideal for observing the seabed.

On the other hand, if you like hiking, don't hesitate to take one of the multiple trails which run through the mountains and lead to beautiful expanses. Depending on what trail you take, you may come across fields of fruit trees, lush forests and cliffs or interesting archaeological ruins. Find out about the trails which best suit your preferences and level at your RIU hotel.

Day 3: The Caves of Mallorca

Entering one of the island's caves is an activity visitors rarely miss. The most well known are the Cuevas del Drac with their fantastic underwater lake where you can take a boat ride and listen to live classical music. However, if you prefer you can also to the Cuevas de Artá or Cuevas dels Hams.

If you are travelling with children or you like more active entertainment, perhaps you'd prefer to visit one of the island's amusement parks which have many fun options. For those seeking other more relaxing but equally as entertaining activities, we recommend you visit one of the glass factories located on the Palma to Manacor highway.
