Jamaica, our home, has a new ray of light in Falmouth:<\/h2>\n

We have been operating in Jamaica for 23 years now! The Riu Palace Aquarelle Hotel will be our seventh establishment in the Caribbean country, but the first to open its doors in a new destination on the island: Falmouth; the capital of the Trelawny Parish, just 35 minutes from Montego Bay airport and two hours from Kingston.<\/p>\n

Falmouth is a city of considerable historical and cultural value. Founded in 1769, it flourished thanks to the sugar and rum trade. Its colonial architecture, museums, markets and churches are testament to its glorious past. Falmouth also has the white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters you long for on your getaway.<\/p>\n

Riu Palace Aquarelle: Solar innovation under the Caribbean sun, challenge overcome:<\/h2>\n

Installing solar panels in the Caribbean is a challenge, but at RIU, challenges are our speciality. We have reinforced every detail to withstand hurricanes, a very common atmospheric phenomenon in the Caribbean, as well as high winds, and to ensure a solid and lasting project.<\/p>\n

The Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle will have a total of 795 solar panels, which will be installed on the roofs of the hotel. These panels will be capable of generating up to 400 Kwp as and will produce 470,000 KWh per year. This represents a saving of between 5% and 10% of the hotel’s total energy consumption. This means that approximately 221,482 kg of CO2 emissions will not be emitted each year. It’s more than a hotel, it’s a movement toward a brighter tomorrow.<\/p>\n

This pilot project is just the beginning. Once its effectiveness has been proven, we will extend this solar revolution to all our hotels in the Caribbean destinations where we operate. Because at RIU, we build sustainable dreams.<\/p>\n
