The manifesto brings together ideas, proposals and commitments with a very clear goal: to move towards more sustainable, inclusive and responsible tourism. At RIU, we are fully aligned with this approach and want to tell you why we believe it is such a great initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A campaign with proposals and action for tourism in Spain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tourism that matters<\/em> is an initiative focused on <strong>the Spanish tourism sector<\/strong>, promoted by EXCELTUR together with key associations in the accommodation, catering, transportation, and travel agency sectors. The manifesto sets out <strong>10 fundamental principles<\/strong> and more than <strong>80 specific proposals<\/strong> to respond to the major challenges facing tourism today: overcrowding in destinations, coexistence with residents, quality employment and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All this is explained in this video, which sums up the essence of the campaign very well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83e\udec6 TURISMO QUE SUMA\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rnN2Ce60jEk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The tourism we all want<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data from EXCELTUR, tourism will generate more than <strong>\u20ac220 billion<\/strong> in Spain by 2025. Its economic impact is enormous and benefits many sectors. But this scale also brings with it the challenge of <strong>managing this growth properly<\/strong>, respecting the environment and improving the experience of both visitors and those who live in the destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short: <strong>it is not just about attracting more tourists, but doing it in a better way<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A vision that we share at RIU<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At RIU we firmly believe in tourism that adds value. That is why, for years, we have been working on projects that go beyond our hotel business. Through our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.riu.com\/es\/proudly-committed#proudly-committed\">Proudly Committed<\/a><\/strong> strategy, we carry out actions that underline our commitment to the environment, people and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/www.riu.com\/dam\/RIU-RSC\/videos\/Nuevo-video-2025\/video-proudlycommitted-ES.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We are delighted to see how this campaign reflects many of the ideas we believe in: collaborating with local communities, deseasonalising destinations, offering stable job opportunities, investing in clean energy and designing experiences that respect local identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Change that begins with dialogue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the manifestos&#8217; key messages is the need to build a new, more participatory, transparent and effective form of <strong>public-private governance<\/strong>. Because only by working together \u2014 businesses, governments, professionals and citizens \u2014 can we tackle challenges like access to housing, regulating tourism and respecting public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Tourism that Adds Value<\/em> campaign proposes exactly that: a space open for reflection and joint action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A shared future for better tourism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At RIU, we believe that initiatives like this are an opportunity to pool ideas, build consensus and keep improving.
