Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto

We stayed for 5 nights. The good.. Excellent location close to downtown Amazing breakfast Modern rooms Great connectivity Comfortable beds Staff very nice and helpful The not quite so good (and I’m being very picky).. Rooms were a little small Housekeeping didn’t attend on one day The bar area doesn’t quite work - can’t sit at the bar and not TV Sketchy area after dark. Would recommend though. A good choice for downtown toronto

Travelling Canada for a month with family we staying in multiple hotels. Whilst Riu is clean and comfortable in the rooms it lacks in places even compared to a UK premier inn. Rooms are clean and comfy with modern look they lack space to put toiletries in bathroom using a basin the size of a bath tub sacrificing space that could be used for daily bathroom sundries. Could have had more hooks to also put towels etc. Space was under the bed for cases but could have benefited from more shelving space for clothes if staying for more than a day as we did. That said rooms are quiet, clean and housekeeping was attentive. Area that lets the hotel down if the breakfast. If you like a school canteen feeling then you’ll be ok. We found it to be very busy having to queue for up to 10 min before being seated. Tables are not even set out with utensils other than a placemat as with all other hotels hence the canteen feel. Breakfast is a buffet. Average offerings but not as much selection as all the other hotels we stayed at in Canada. Same options every day with only slight change in pancakes/wafles that we noted. Sausages greasy but rest of food edible. Fruit selection could have had choice of more fruit such as red berries to complement the melon, grapefruit and banana that was the staple every day choice. Meat & cheese selection was average. Unlike all other hotels Riu did not offer extras at no extra cost such omelet for example at a counter or even à la carte. Overall breakfast is a school canteen experence. Was it value for money? Feeling is not based on our other experiences and places we have stayed as other hotels do it much better! Would we stay again possibly but would likely try somewhere different if visiting Toronto again. As said it is clean, comfortable and in a good location for Toronto.
