"PICK ANOTHER HOTEL."
I paid for a room with a city view and a larger bed, yet upon arrival the front desk assigned us a smaller room with bathroom defects. After refusing it, they moved us to a fourth‑floor room with no city view. We paid around 400 USD per night for 5 nights and after that 2 more. Most staff were polite, but the front desk consistently delivered the worst service I have experienced in a hotel. They refused to properly register our complaint, denied us any contact with the manager, and limited us to speaking only with a reception supervisor. We asked to leave one suitcase between two close stays, and the front desk initially made it seem as if this would be possible. Later, they denied the service and treated us poorly again. Only after insisting did someone claiming to be management offer to store the suitcase—but only if we signed a document fully releasing the hotel from all responsibility, even if the luggage were stolen inside the hotel premises. This raises serious concerns about guest safety and the hotel’s commitment to customer care. The AC of the rooms isnt working. Because of the repeated poor treatment, we chose another hotel for our second stay in London, where the service was significantly better.
"Con Artists"
Awful experience with customer service. I paid for a 3 day stay in full via the Riu website. Unfortunately I had to reschedule my booking due an unforseen passport problem. I called 9 days in advance of my stay and was explicitly told by Emna I could modify my reservation when I had new dates so long as it was made before my booking began. 2 days before the reservation was due to begin, I emailed the hotel to modify at ([email protected]). I received an email the next day that they were too busy to deal with it and given another email address ([email protected]) to try. I emailed that address with several follow ups and still haven't gotten a response now, 2 days later. The day of the booking, and with no response to my email request, I called the customer service line again and I was told the fee to modify my 3 night stay was actually over £700 in addition to the 3 nights that were already paid in full. Worse, I was told that the fee to even cancel the prepaid booking was over £640 (in addition to the 3 nights I had already paid in full) which makes absolutely no sense. Under this scheme, they make *double* fees for a room they are rebooking to someone else, ie potentially triple the actual rate. I was told that the rooms were more expensive (by double) in July in London than in October, which is completely untrue. I looked up rates on their site and already found them comparable. I was then encouraged to email [email protected] to provide proof that I could not travel in order to avoid the exhorbitant cancelation fee or rebooking fee. I am literally canceling my credit card now to ensure they won't charge me because I have no guarantees at this point that my card will not be charged again ON TOP of already paying for the room in advance. I will not be rebooking at this hotel and would strongly suggest you avoid these con artists.
