"Decent Stay, Could Be Better"
Stayed here for a couple of nights and it was okay for what we needed. The room was reasonably clean and the bed was comfortable, but some parts of the hotel looked a little dated. Staff were friendly, although service could be slow at times. The location was handy and getting around was easy. Nothing terrible, but a few improvements would make the stay much better.
"Earn your 4 star rating!"
This is my third stay at this hotel. I have a loyalty 'card' and got a discounted price per night. Although Booking.com was offering the same price!!!. My first two stays were good with a nice room. One would then naturally think that the more you stay the greater the possibility of getting a nice room, not so at this hotel. We had room 250 in what has to be an annex at the very end of the corridor. It was pokey with the bathroom door facing the guest in the bed nearest to it. The abscence of any type of treat or water is unacceptable for a four star hotel. Btw it is possible to get glass bottled water. However the really weakest link here is the Reception staff. While we were handled with a veneer of interest/welcome, on two of the three occassions Ive stayed here theres been a guest being treated very rudely whilst trying to resolve some issue or other. Hardly a coincidence? This hotel thrives because of its location and breakfast. The general staff in the restaurant are delightful. Well done folks😁. Advice to management: train reception staff or get new staff here. They create that first vital impression and at present that is disinterested and rude. Place a few biscuits/sweets and some bottled water in the rooms - we have recycling now! Look to the attitude of the general staff in the very busy restaurant for inspiration. I will return again because of location but may also look at some of the many other hotels in the immediate area.
