Health

If we want to contribute significantly to improving the quality of life of people, we must promote health programs, especially focused on disease prevention, and the promotion of healthy habits. For this reason, we seek to promote services, especially aimed at girls and boys in our communities, with the help of local partners, that offer primary health care, psychological, dental, nutritional and other specialties.

Objectives

To increase the survival and quality of life of children and young people with cancer in the state of Quintana Roo.

Throughout the year, 142 patients benefited, some of whom received treatment for the full 12 months. Direct support was provided to Regional Hospital #17 and Chetumal Oncology Hospital, supplying them with essential medical supplies and equipment.

The timely diagnosis of 54 new cases of childhood cancer was achieved, and in 13 additional cases, the presence of the disease was ruled out. A total of 8 patients progressed to the survivor stage, receiving their clinical discharge, while 19 patients moved to the surveillance stage.

Regarding treatments, 1103 medications were supplied. 39 imaging studies, 20 radiotherapy sessions, and 251 laboratory analyses and diagnostic tests were carried out. Additionally, 35 port catheters were installed, facilitating access for treatments.

Finally, 184 RIU employees joined the foundation's "Neon Race", contributing to fundraising for this important cause.

A total of 8 patients were finally discharged from hospital, thus considered cancer survivors.

In a remarkable commitment to this cause, RIU covers over 90% of the expenses associated with this foundation's health programme.
