Sustainability Report 2020
For the first time in the history of RIU Hotels, in 2020 we temporarily closed all hotels due to COVID-19. An unprecedented situation that created an uncertain future full of challenges for the company and our team. However, despite the economic impact of the pandemic, we maintained our commitment to all partners in the third sector, focusing our support on the community and children, and adapting our programs to new social problems.
This Sustainability Report is the testimony of how we faced this pandemic, with integrity, courage and unity, always focusing on people and their well-being.
RIU HOTELS & RESORTS: TOWARDS A MORE RESPONSIBLE HOSPITALITY MODEL
The Corporate Social Responsibility team has a long-term action plan that focuses its social innovation on the “RIU Method”, a work methodology based on three main scopes: children, local community and biodiversity.

Our method of social innovation, unique in the sector, includes reports, internal interviews, meetings with stakeholders and field visits. An intense research work that identifies social and environmental deficiencies in the communities nearby the hotels and guides our social investment where it is most needed.
