Hotel Riu Palace Mexico

We arrived here on the 3 Oct to this beautiful hotel. Our room had the wow factor, but we did have to change rooms as there was still a bit of work being carried out and was quite a lot of noise from the roof tops, All the restaurants were fabulous with great selections of food, quality premium drinks, entertainment was excellent All staff were very attentive and helpful at all times, I can’t remember all the names but a few names I can, Abraham from the buffet restaurant was excellent and so friendly, Pastor bar/waiter worked so hard and always had a smile, and Frankie from the sports bar was brilliant made us laugh 😊 We will definitely be back

The renovation is amazing. Next level style and service. Also the restaurants are upgraded. The style is 5 star+ The swimup room is amazing, very big, nice pool and luxe. Just be aware that the luxe 5 star + look not fits the public. The price is lower because of some small fixes in the hotel. This also attracts more loud and drunk people (mostly Americans). Also Americans that scream to the staff because they not get the room with max sun. Or go aggressive if the special restaurant is full. The staff is very kind and not should get this kind of behavior. American guests scream in pools to have conversations or put loud music on. This not fits Riu Palace or elite club. They should go to other Riu hotels. Yes it are 99% American guests because they scream the place they are from. The hotel should be aware of drunk people and stop giving them alcohol. We experienced an couple that was having erotic behavior during the show, because they not aware anymore that they where not in their room. The staff just give them more alcohol. Resulting in sexual behavior in front of everyone! You can be better in an hotel with kids than drunk adults. Also in the pool some Americans keep drinking (not 10 beers but at least 30+). Resulting in pee in the pool. Many places in the hotel have an very bad smell and the hallways to the rooms are almost never cleaned. Other aspects of the hotel are very clean. Toilets are clean, room is very clean and restaurants are very clean. I also agree with the post about Diamond guests. The hotel don’t care Diamond status and forget the most loyal people. Also special occasions like honeymoon are completely forgotten. This is related to the bad frontdesk managers. This not fits Riu and not fits Riu class! This is just an small improvement and not an very big issue. The food is very good, also the special restaurants are from good quality. The shows are typical Riu shows but the mariachi show is amazing. And the cocktails are amazing! Also compliments to Arial at the mix station! Overall 5 star worth with some small improvements needed to make it even to 6 stars. Hopefully this will be the new Riu style! Some tips: Bring mosquito repellent and ask the staff for bug spray in your room. For taxi use inDrive -> more than 50% cheaper than the hotel taxi and very good quality and services. Just for pickup you need ask the frontdesk to make QR code for the driver because playa car security. Prepare yourself for loud and drunk people and avoid the pools at the end of the day because of the Peeing of some guests. Elite club is 100% worth it, just ask elite mix when you order drinks. The staff at the elite pool is amazing! Very friendly and one of the best! Overall it’s an amazing hotel with excellent service, food and drinks. Hopefully in other hotels elite club will be available also for people with kids.
