The location and grounds are beautiful. The staff does a great job with keeping the pool and gardens maintained. The rooms are as pictured and our view was wonderful. Downsides: Even after renovations there is a sulfur smell that emerges from the toilet. The septic system is treated but the problem persists. The bar in the room was never restocked even after request. There is no room service at this location. All of the restaurants are set up buffet style except the steakhouse. Although the service is buffet they still require you to wait in line. The Japanese restaurants that are serving buffet style will often have open tables but guests are turned away.. The steakhouse takes reservations 2 days ahead of time. Overall i would say our experience was good but if you are a foodie and the dining experience is something important to you then you should consider a different resort.
"Terrible food. Crowds everywhere."
I did not really enjoy my stay at RIU for a couple of reasons. First, the food, tasteless and too many people handling, flies all over the food, low quality items, super difficult to h get a spot in the restaurants. I could not make a reservation for the steak house. Second, the place was super crowded, pools were like public pools, so, so loud. I do not recommend.
