Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin

The lobby is impressive, but was very busy with a sporting event when we arrived so was quite hard to find our bearings. The rooms were nice but basic, nothing in the mini bar, no toiletries except shower gel and shampoo, no extra blankets etc. We were looking forward to a lie in which is a rarity for us, but a loud smoke alarm in the room sounding at intervals from 5.50am put paid to this. We could hear it going off in other people's rooms and caused a bit of a commotion in the corridor, no staff attended. The corridors are really loud at night, every word spoken by people can be heard. We were given a room right next to the lifts even though we booked over 12 months ago, it's a shame we weren't given first choice on a quieter room. Lobby staff were pleasant on leaving and arriving. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

I recently stayed at the RIU Plaza Dublin and found it to be a very basic hotel. While it was clean and the breakfast was very good with a nice variety of options, there were several issues that made the stay disappointing. The biggest problem was the air conditioning. It did not work throughout our stay, despite multiple calls and visits to the front desk. Unfortunately, nothing was done to resolve the issue, making the room quite uncomfortable. They did brjng 1 fan that was filthy with dust. On our last morning, the fire alarm went off around 6:00 a.m. Guests evacuated and waited outside, but no member of the hotel staff came out to provide an update or let everyone know it was a false alarm. The lack of communication during what could have been a real emergency was concerning. Overall, the breakfast was the highlight of the stay, but the poor handling of the air conditioning issue and the lack of communication during the fire alarm leave me unable to recommend this hotel. There are likely better options in Dublin for the price
