"Very good stay"
Top marks for hotel, especially staff and service. Allways there when needed, and helped what we asked for. Very good location (metro is just few metres away). City bus stop also. Food was excellent, and staff, again, very efficient and helpful.

The hotel is excellently located with views over Plaza España. We had a room with a balcony which was great for relaxing at the end of the day. The room and bathroom were spacious. The lobby of the hotel is chaotic. It is not very spacious, especially at check in times. The lift system is fine, but clearly confuses people. I assume the staff are frequently contending with people wishing to visit the roof or bars etc. Consequently almost every time I entered I was asked if I was a guest. It makes for a really unwelcoming experience to be repeating this to the same people multiple times a day, day after day. For the rooftop, you will get special service in getting seated as a guest. The rooftop was fine, but it is busy with people who are paying to come to the roof. They have packed in as many tables as possible so it is not the most pleasant place to spend time. The guest exclusive terrace on the lower floor included a pool and a space with seating. It was quiet and can be nice if you just want somewhere to sit. But it felt like more effort was being put into the terrace that people were paying to visit. The bar here seemed rarely to be open or staffed - I would have liked to just get a coffee or glass of wine on a couple of occasions and no one was around. It ends up feeling like a rather sad space. The breakfast is not the best. The area is quite large. There are two hot food stations with the same items, so the choice can look bigger than it actually is. If you are vegetarian, prepare for limited choices. The only omelettes available, for example, contained ham and staff said they were unable to make an option without ham. There is a fairly large fruit and yoghurt section. Some whole fresh fruits are available but most of the fruits here appeared to be canned. Very disappointing. There is a gluten-free section, but it is extremely limited. No food items seemed to have any labelling with regard to allergens etc. The rooms felt basic; for example there were no small extras like gowns, slippers etc provided. The flooring used throughout the rooms and the hallways was unpleasant. It was a plastic flooring tile I think, with some texture that felt pretty cheap and unpleasant to walk on. I assumed it had been chosen as a hard wearing choice. However, judging by the scuffs and stains all over, it is either old or not wearing well. A couple of times after our bedding was changed there were black marks on the bedding. While the sheets otherwise seemed clean, this was another absence of attention to detail. Overall, I was disappointed with my stay. It is obviously a popular and busy hotel. I didn't have any huge problems, I had what I needed, but it is the small items that I would expect more attention on at this level. I think the hotel is all about the location. I would not return, personally, but for a one off short stay in the center it is not a bad choice.
