Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife

Visited here for 8 nights with my husband. Location for us was perfect, nice 10-15 minutes walk into main centre or 5 minutes walk the other way and your in the lovely little fishing village of La Caleta, where you will find some beautiful restaurants. Hotel staff were all polite and work hard to make attendance to your needs. Cleaners work endless to keep rooms and the rest of hotel in order. Unfortunately the rooms and hall ways are dated and need some attention. 5* hotel, that does not supply any free water daily. This is something I have never experienced before. Usually at least a bottler per day. My advice would be to visit a local supermarket to stock up as the water in the room is overpriced. Sun lounger were an issue on our first day, many being reserved and not used till late morning. Following days we did get up early to have breakfast so we were able to get a sun lounger. The hotel says it has a no reserving policy in place but this is not adhered to. Food was good, always finding something we would enjoy at breakfast and dinner. Just a few changes would make it a little more like a 5 star.

We have been at the hotel for these last 6 days, a good experience and we had a good time. Regarding the 5 stars, we have been traveling to the island for 7 years, 5 of which in hotels of the same category, and this one has disappointed us a little. We give 5 stars to the location, there is no doubt, direct access to the beach, that is a wonder. The staff is very kind, we met José R today at breakfast, very kind and a good person, since it was our last day he provided us with a bag to take some snacks for the trip. We did not like our room, a family one, they are not family rooms like in other hotels, they are 2 rooms separated by a hallway that connects them and both separated from the rest by a common door. If you go with children, someone is left isolated from the rest, so we do not give it 5 stars. The lounge chair area was quite dirty, from one day to the next you could see cups and dirt that persisted on the furniture, (and not because of the staff, who did not stop), as well as the reserving of lounge chairs (families of 5, they would take 7 lounge chairs, that in a hotel of this category cannot be allowed) We went with children, there is an infinity pool and swimming is not allowed for them, a big flaw if it is a hotel that is accepting children. As for the buffet, it also did not seem like 5 to us stars, repetitive, the juices are not natural. The room cleaning lady, a short lady who was there today, very, very kind, my daughter got sick, and she quickly cleaned the toilet since she had vomited, these details make up for the rest.
