Hotel Riu Karamboa 5*

What a great location only 5 mins from Airport. on arrival check in was easy as already done on line. didn't have to wait for long for room, so sat in reception and had a drink. we were in room 3106, down the ramp and to the left, please be warned there are no lifts in the hotel so get a bell boy to take your cases. we did have a small sea view and was lovely, we could see the waterpark from room. Rooms were really great and big, bed was really comfy. room was cleaned every day. There was a tropical storm while there but just meant we had to sit in bar all day. the atmosphere of the hotel in general is great, we spent pretty much every day by the pool bar to the left and really had a good time. you certainly won't go hungry or thirsty as always something to eat or drink. Staff were all really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. we never had any issues with noise, we manged to get in the Italian and that was lovely. main restaurant was good, catered for everyone and was always nice and hot. Would say the entertainment is miss and hit, not to everyone's taste. We couldn't say about the day time entertainment as that was at one of the main pools in middle. All in all a great relaxing holiday. Did go an excursion one morning booked that through trip advisor. We are looking at going back next year.

Due to some of the recent negative reviews prior to visiting, we were somewhat apprehensive, but wow, wow, wow, what a wonderful piece of paradise we found this place to be. We arrived on the 26th of September, a day later than scheduled due to Hurricane Gonzalo, but that was purely for everyone’s safety. It only took a five-minute coach transfer to the hotel. On arrival, we were greeted by their wonderful staff who collected and briefly stored our luggage as our swim-up room was ready for us. A quick check-in at reception before being taken along to our room with our bags and cases. We found no faults with our swim-up room. Everything, including the air con, was just perfect, and our room was spotlessly clean. The beds and towels were changed daily. The bathroom was stocked with towels, bath robes, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and a hairdryer. Our housekeeper, Anna Maria, was such a warm, friendly lady and was very thorough with her cleaning. The room had coffee and tea-making facilities, a mini bar stocked with beers, water, and fizzy drinks like Coke and Fanta, and even a selection of optics with spirits, which was a lovely touch. The mini bar was refilled every two days. The food here is absolutely amazing and offers so much choice. We booked all three à la carte restaurants but ultimately preferred the main restaurant with its endless and varied selection of different types of food and such amazing desserts. We even cancelled one restaurant in favour of the main one. The staff work incredibly hard, looking after guests, clearing away, and maintaining the cleanliness of the place. There is plenty to do here if you want to, but my husband and I just wanted to fly and flop, and that’s what we did. If not in our swim-up pool, we just loved a stroll along the soft-sanded beach, paddling our feet in the warm sea. We visited the cocktail bar to the left of the beach a couple of times and enjoyed a cocktail there before walking back, but actually enjoyed the piña coladas more from the hotel. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained by the gardeners who are always busy throughout the day. The evening entertainment team’s constant friendly smiles and tireless efforts kept everyone entertained. We particularly enjoyed the Abba tribute show during the evening entertainment. The Kahoot quiz was also fun, as was the karaoke and the various singers and their bands. We attended the RUI white party on the Friday evening, which was phenomenal. My husband and I did not find a single negative with this holiday, all very, very positive. We want to express our sincere gratitude to the management and their incredibly talented and hardworking staff for making our holiday truly wonderful, and we just cannot wait to come back next year!
