"Nice hotel. Restaurant system a total joke."
This place has the most ridiculous policies for restaurants. No reservations are allowed, you must stand in a line at 5:30 everyday to stand a chance of getting sat anytime between then and 6:30. If you come back at 6:30, you may possibly get a seat for the second sitting, but the restaurants close at 8:00 p.m.. 8:00 p.m. is absolutely ridiculous when the hotel is fully booked. We actually wanted to enjoy our late afternoon in the pool so we did not go and stand in a line and instead went nack to one restaurant at 7:20 p.m. when it was half empty, and they wouldn't seat us because it was closing in 40 minutes. I'm literally sitting in the buffet right now, watching endless lines of people all trying to eat at the few restaurants that they have. What a joke. Forcing the entire hotel to eat in a 2 hour window. Never seen this at any resort I have ever stayed at and unless they change the policy, which absolutely nobody I spoke to thought was a good idea, I will never come back.
"Roaches, ants, termites … terrible customer service"
Stayed at the RIU Palace from 7/13-7/17, the first night we got there we saw roaches and immediately asked for a room change.. in the morning we had an excursion so we notified them at the front desk and on the app and asked them for a room change due to the roaches in the room … we was told via the app they had a room available to fit the 4 of us and I notified them I would come and get it upon return from the excursion .... upon return from the excursion…. They gave away the room. They notified us that only a king size bed was available.. I let them know that accommodation wouldn’t fit us all, so I asked for another room or to be switched to Riu Guanacaste … they said there weren’t rooms available until 7/19 so they offered to place an extra bed in the room. They placed the bed in the room and the room was very crowded with little to no space to walk around due to the extra bed. The following morning we woke up and lo and behold an ant infestation ….. so we went back to the lobby and notified them…. They let me know there was another room available .. and it was their vip suite however they would offer it to us …and allowed us to inspect the room before agreeing to it … we went into the room and now and behold termites .. and their droppings …. So we denied the option … and asked for our crowded room to be sprayed .. compensation because we were in a tighter room… and they declined it .. now it’s time to checkout and now they are charging me more than the initial rate because of the upgrade .. which I didn’t request but was required because of the unlivable room conditions …. D
