"Place went downhill since our last trip"
Bahamas is beautiful! This was our second time staying at this resort , we were there in 2018 and loved it so we came back for a 7 night stay July 1-8,2026 All i can stay we won’t be back again! While we had a great time, that was all because the beach is beautiful , the pool was great and we got a whole week of relaxing! Upon checking in, the front desk agent said she upgraded us since we celebrated our anniversary, well that was a lie, we got a standard room, nothing special But we didn’t care as we only spent time in the room to shower and sleep Housekeeping was great for the most times except the one day when they literally came into the room , picked up the cash tip and left without touching anything in the room! Needless to say I went downstairs and talked to management about that The food was amazing and we only ate at the buffet , we did not care about all the hustling to make reservations at any of the restaurants. The buffet had plenty of options every night and it was always delicious and fresh! The restaurant servers were also amazing, special shoutout to Agatha, she rocked! Now, the bar staff was absolutely rude!!! No matter if you had tip or not ( which we always did) , they were just miserable 24/7! Years ago when only some people tipped, they were so appreciative and happy, now when there 5 gallon jars were full of tips they didn’t even bother smiling or being nice! They were just awful!! We only had a couple of drinks every day( we are not those people who go on vacation for the booze but to relax ) but their attitude certainly made our experience less enjoyable! We definitely would not come back to this resort neither would recommend it and I’ll think twice before I’d book an other Riu!!
"Hotel Riu"
We checked in to the Riu Paradise Island Bahamas on Saturday morning and were offered an "upgrade" for $30USD a night. We agreed excitedly thinking we were getting something special... WRONG!! We ended up in a room that smelled weird and overlooked a construction site and a garbage /shanty town. (I took a video for proof)...when we complained we were told this was an upgrade and that they cannot control the site beside them - we agreed but asked for a refund as the view and room were not an upgrade from what we booked, just a higher floor. The manager Terry was very unsympathetic and close to rude. Our advice: ask to see the room first as an "upgrade" may not be quite as it sounds RIU Hotels and Resorts Paradise Island we hope you take notice of this poor service. *Overall staff was nice but our experience was tainted after our encounter with management. Food was good... buffet got a bit repetitive after a few days. The steak restaurant was a joke...the portions were so small and the fries tasted like old cooking oil.... However, the beach and water were unbelievable...love the Bahamas for this reason but will be choosing a different hotel for.our next stay...
