"Absolutely no 5-star hotel and not the quality you expect from Riu"
Reception:
Friendly help, the room was already ready and in great order.
It is strange that some people received a free upgrade to a room with a pool and others had to pay 80 euros per night for it. You don't expect this in a hotel like that.
Room:
The room itself was neat, it was cleaned every day, one time better than the other. The bed linen was not changed for us in the first week, we asked to have it changed via the Riu app and they did it then. We regularly lacked towels and there wasn't always a pillowcase.
Restaurants
We found the food too often lukewarm and it's the same every day, no themed evenings like I'm used to at other Riu Hotels. The meat was too much, like it was fried, as if you were eating a piece of leather sometimes. The fish went onto the baking sheet, which was usually good tasting, but kept sticking to the baking sheet so it was no longer fish but a mess.
The area where the food was set up is like an anthill. You are in line a lot.
Always a place to sit, indoors or outdoors.
We have only been to the restaurant by the pool a few times, it didn't look fresh.
There was lots of different fresh fruit every day, perfectly tasty. Pizza every day.
There are 3 theme restaurants for this, you can reserve via the app. The cuisine is really good.
The staff in the main restaurant is incredibly friendly, after 1 day they know what you like to drink with your breakfast and dinner.
Swimming pool/beach
The pool was kept very clean, it is not chlorine swimming water. Many beds and parasols broken, towels often full of stains. You don't expect this at a 5-star.
The towel boys could use a lesson in kindness.
The pool bar patrons are full of mostly English people, who drink quite a bit.
The beach itself is very beautiful. Full of weeds, also many beds broken there. The lava sand is very hot, the lighter sand was good to walk on. You can walk left and right along the beach for a nice walk.
Buildings:
Poorly maintained and the hallways are simply dirty. Paint over the inexplicable stains on the wall. Cans or broken crockery were there every two weeks while we were there. Is poorly cleaned.
Massage:
We had 3 massages, 1 at the hotel, 1 when you walk up the beach on the left, and 1 when you walk up the beach on the right. The massage on the right was the best for us, about 50 euros for an hour, a bit more expensive at the hotel.
Entertainment:
Every evening there is live music and a show. On Friday there is a rave party.
Overall:
No 5-star, 4-star hotel, mediocre food, good service, interior buildings are worn out and look poor.
I don't understand how this hotel is so expensive, especially considering the price. 2 weeks is already 4300 euros, we booked it based on the good reviews, but unfortunately it was a bit of a letdown
