Location was great, a wonderful beach. Wish the pool was open for night swims, bummed to see it closed at 6pm. Very nice pools though & towel stations never ran dry. Food was decent, especially the “Jamaican Station” at the buffet. Top opportunity for the resort is the check-in experience. There are a lot of rules and schedules, it’s not like a “get what you want 24/7” as I feel it was advertised. A guide would help. I checked in on the Riu App beforehand and that accomplished nothing to make things easier or more clear. Riu app is terrible. It’s also easier to get alcohol than a bottle of water. Staff is helpful when engaged, but are not engaging whatsoever. Beach was so nice with a reef right off in relatively shallow water- great for a beginning snorkeler. Overall for size and scale, it was a good experience and our kid had a great time. If you are looking for luxury and personalization, this is not a good fit. Riu should put an ATM onsite, as I ran out of tipping cash at one point. Made me feel bad for the team there. There is a Scotia Bank ATM at Dunn’s River falls and one at the herb house (both are close). Overall great trip! Just meter expectations for mass appeal vs luxury personalization of any sort.
