Hotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie 4*

so we have been to morocco many times before and rui hotels, this hotel is well below standards, if you are used to 3 star hotels then maybe you will like it. my advice would be not to book, we ignored the bad reviews and disappointed does not cover it. the hotel manager has been responding to reviews on trip adviser for 6 months and there has been no improvement in the hotel so dont let that fool you, we complained to the hotel , to the rep & tui and nothing was done, food - they are not adhering to health & safety standards, food can only be left out for so long, the food is bland and i started adding salt it was so bad, the orange juice is not very orangey, pastries are dry, pizza also tasteless and the salads are boring and tasteless also with not enough variety, the carvery was good and other bits but overall not good .i just couldn't be bothered to eat by the end of the 7 days we also got food poising from the hotel and it took over 2 weeks for our stomachs to get better, so really dangerous bacteria. i have never been so ill. alcohol - it is not watered down. there just not giving you any, you can ask for a large drink or more but they wont give it to you, none of the bar staff we tried them all. the hotel is purposefully trying to save money by not putting hardly any alcohol in drinks, we have not had this anywhere else before in the world. you literally cant get drunk. if you like drinking tiny amounts of alcohol all day , you'll be fine, if you give the staff large tips, every time you get a drink, then you can get some. the only way to get spirits is to ask for it straight with ice, there's no table waiter service in the lobby in the evening which is annoying, music round the pool is also so loud you have to shout to talk to the person next to you, they also only play English music , i like music round the pool & look forward to the internal music you get on holiday but its not a nightclub and we couldn't nap or relax as it was so loud. you can hear it in the furthest room block! cockroaches - i only saw 1 and told the toilet cleaner who promptly killed it the kids club was closed while we were there aqua aerobics was boring - it would help if the staff actually attended an aqua gym class stretching class was also not very good either & they dont corner off the area so people sunbath and get in the way the Moroccan & Italian buffet restaurants, they cook the food on mass and leave it out for both sittings. it is much worse than the main restaurant. good points our room was lovely as are the grounds, if not small. there were a couple of snagging issues with the room but they were fixed within an hour or so. i found the bed much to hard and it gave me aches & pains, i slept on the duvet which helped, my husband didnt mind the bed. the room cleaner was good. reception are very helpful, they will print your boarding pass or give you info on Marrakech. the restaurant waiters are all very friendly and remember your orders. the pool attendants and towel hut man were very helpful. spa -looks lovely, i had a massage though and it wasnt very good. the nightly shows were the worst we've ever seen, the hotel need to invest in the costume, get outside acts in and the staff need to rehearse more, the mr & mrs show and the mr show were very funny though. the football is on the tvs in the lobby lounge bar 24/7 if you like that. it was also our anniversary which we told the hotel in advance & i reminded reception, absolutely nothing! all in all there's no way we would return and wish we had changed hotels. there's many people we met at the hotel who love it, which we just could not understand! .its a shame the food & drink let it down so badly.

We stayed at Riu Tikida Palmeraie in Marrakech for six nights, and my best advice is to AVOID at all costs. The food was disgusting, repetitive and often tasteless. I have a gluten intolerance, yet approximately 70–75% of the buffet food had no allergen labelling. Even worse, chefs gave information that contradicted the signs that were displayed. I became incredibly ill during the holiday. If you have any allergies, this is definitely not the hotel for you. The alternative restaurants were equally disappointing, offering more buffets with little variety. Breakfast juices and other drinks were horribly watered down. My son eats everything and even after a few days he wouldn't eat it. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so there isn't anywhere else to get food. The mattresses were rock solid. I have scoliosis and was in considerable pain, but the reception manager was dismissive, claiming he'd never heard such a complaint before. Although the mattress was eventually changed, he never once asked how I was. The pool facilities were badly maintained. There was visible algae around the pool, which repeatedly ended up on my son's swimming shorts. The women's toilets had missing flushes and light switches, while the men's toilet floors were constantly wet. My 11-year-old son slipped and fell, suffering significant bruising. The Wi-Fi was absolutely horrendous, constantly disconnecting. As someone self-employed who needed occasional access to emails and calls, I incurred substantial additional mobile data charges. The gym was downright dangerous. Plug sockets were hanging out of the walls, with exposed wiring, yet all the gym equipment was unplugged overnight, leaving guests expected to plug it back in themselves. After I informed them, staff simply wrapped black tape around some exposed wires and secured a few sockets, leaving others loose! Housekeeping also walked straight into our room multiple times without knocking once whilst my son was undressed, leaving him extremely upset. There was no poolside drinks service, and advertised activities were inconsistent. Water polo and volleyball happened only twice during our six-day stay. The only positives were the spacious rooms, generally pleasant staff outside reception (reception staff were unhelpful and one of the guys who always had his shirt hanging out was arrogant), and the reliable shuttle into Marrakech, although you need to book it well in advance. Overall, this hotel felt poorly maintained, badly managed and completely below the standards I would expect from an international hotel chain. RIU's subsequent handling of my complaints has been equally disappointing and dismissive even though I was left in bed ill from the food and unable to enjoy my holiday. I would absolutely never return and strongly advise others, particularly families and anyone with food intolerances, to AVOID THIS HOTEL.
