The Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius inaugurates RIU’s two new hotels in this destination

RIU's two new hotels in Mauritius—the Riu Palace Mauritius and the Riu Turquoise—went all out for the official opening ceremony. The event, which took place at the Riu Palace Mauritius, was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism of Mauritius, Louis Steven Obeegadoo, as well as the RIU executive directors Joan Trian Riu and Carles Madrenas and RIU’s Managing Director in Mauritius, Kris Seeboo.

The ceremony brought together more than 50 guests, including prominent figures and representatives from various Mauritian government bodies, the media and members of the RIU chain.

After cutting the ribbon, Kris Seboo welcomed and thanked those present. His words were followed by a speech from Joan Trian Riu, who said: “We are proud to inaugurate these two new hotels that today present all the innovations in service and sustainability that Riu has been working on in recent years. And even more so in such a privileged location as Le Morne”. He also underlined “the commitment that Mauritius is making to develop a quality and sustainable tourism offer”.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted: “The investment in these two new hotels is a symbol of RIU’s trust in Africa and especially in Mauritius. RIU not only invested in new facilities but also in sustainability measures that make the new hotels fit in the vision of green and eco-friendly tourism that we have for Mauritius. In terms of numbers in the industry, we are doing better than in 2019 and I believe this year will be a record. So, this investment comes at a very appropriate time since our economy is doing well thanks, in great extent, to tourism. Congratulations on these openings and thank you for your trust in Mauritius”.

The event was drawn to a close with a cocktail party in the hotel's Lobby Bar to officially mark the start of RIU’s new chapter in Mauritius.

With 310 rooms, the Riu Palace Mauritius promises an unparalleled experience for anyone looking for the utmost comfort and exclusive services in a spectacular natural environment. The exclusive Elite Club service offers guests the opportunity to book a luxury experience with rooms in a privileged location.  The 390-room Riu Turquoise was designed to offer families, couples or groups of friends an unforgettable experience. What’s more, all guests can enjoy a wide range of dining options, including the Indian restaurant ‘Bangalore’. The two hotels are also the chain’s most energy efficient establishments thanks to the 2,418 solar panels installed on their roofs.

The opening and inauguration of these establishments, which are overlooked by the impressive Le Morne Brabant, reaffirm the hotel chain’s commitment to excellent service in this wonderful destination.
