We went from October 12 to 16, supposedly in the low season, and the number of children was exaggerated, as if we were in the middle of the holidays. If you are not bringing children, really, think twice before booking.
🏨 Facilities
The facilities in the new area are fine. My recommendation is that you request a room in this area. Otherwise, prepare yourself to wait for the elevator for an eternity.
We went with my parents and they had to wait up to 15 minutes to be able to go up. And I repeat: it was low season! I do not want to imagine what it is like during the holidays.
🍽️ Restaurants and food
The two buffet restaurants are fine; the food is pleasant and gets the job done.
There is also El Malecón, in the pool area, where you find the typical stuff: hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries. In addition, they have a taco area with options that vary, such as barbacoa and cochinita.
🍺 Drinks and service
There is draft beer and whiskey, including the well-known Johnnie Walker Red Label.
The service from the waiters is a toss-up: some serve you excellently, while others act like you are asking them for a handout.
In the pool area, many times you have to go looking for the waiters. Mind you, there are some islands where you can serve yourself draft beer and soft drinks.
🚻 The pool situation
As I already mentioned, there was an exaggerated number of children. During our stay, I practically did not see children using the bathrooms in that area… draw your own conclusions.
It is a detail that, as a guest, inevitably makes you question the hygiene of the pool area.
🛎️ Front desk and early access
We arrived at 6:00 a.m. and paid an additional charge of $350 per adult and $200 per child to be able to enter before 11:00 a.m. and take advantage of the facilities, including the food.
There were also a lot of local people, which contributed to the feeling of overcrowding; I was told that the hotel has the capacity to accommodate 4,000 people, and I don't want to imagine how full it gets.
⚠️ Conclusion
This hotel is an option for those traveling with children who are looking for family entertainment. However, if you are looking to rest, enjoy the pools quietly, or spend a vacation as a couple, my experience was quite disappointing.
If you are not from Mazatlán, are not traveling with children, and have the opportunity to choose another hotel, do so. Do not waste your vacation.
The new facilities are fine and the food is adequate, but the overcrowding, the waits for the elevators, and some service details ended up weighing more than the positives.
My personal rating: I would not return.
