For RIU, 2025 has been an exciting journey full of new horizons, reunions in hotels that shine brighter than ever, and, above all, an unwavering commitment to people and the environment. 1. A Historic Milestone: 100% of the Chain Ecostars Certified
We ended 2025 with news that fills us with pride: we have successfully certified all our hotels with the Ecostars seal! This recognition guarantees that, regardless of the destination you choose, your stay meets the highest standards of sustainability and environmental respect.
2. Hotel Riu Ventura Lands in Cancun
Mexico continues to bring us joy! At the end of 2025, we inaugurated the Hotel Riu Ventura, our sixth hotel in Cancun, featuring a modern design and a fun-filled concept designed to make the most of the Mexican Caribbean.
3. Grand Reopening of Hotel Riu Guanacaste
Costa Rica dressed up to celebrate the comprehensive renovation of Hotel Riu Guanacaste. After months of work, the hotel has reopened its doors, maintaining its natural essence while offering completely renovated facilities that will leave you speechless.
4. Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto: Conquering the Canadian Skyline
One of the year’s most anticipated moments was our arrival in Canada with the Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto. This new urban hotel has already become the ideal meeting point for those seeking RIU comfort in the city’s financial and cultural heart.
5. Proud of Our Commitment in Mexico
RIU presented its sustainability strategy Proudly Committed in Mexico in an event were we reaffirmed our dedication to local communities and biodiversity. This is not just a strategy; it is our way of giving back to this country all the affection it has shown us for decades.
6. 20 Years of Love in Cape Verde
2025 has been the year of Cape Verde. We celebrated our 20th anniversary in this Atlantic paradise, remembering that first step on the island of Sal that changed our history forever. Here’s to many more years of sharing “morabeza“!
7. New Category for Hotel Riu Palace Calypso
In Fuerteventura, Hotel Riu Palace Calypso has taken a leap in quality following a complete renovation. This Adults Only retreat has not only updated its image but has also elevated its category to offer an even more exclusive beachfront experience.
8. The Renewed Magic of Hotel Riu Palace La Mola
Formentera is special, and its hotel had to be too. After a careful renovation, Hotel Riu Palace La Mola has reopened its doors, integrating better than ever into the island’s landscape and offering that Mediterranean vibe we love so much.
9. Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Agadir Debuts a New Look
Morocco remains a key destination for RIU, and the renovation of Hotel Riu Palace Tikida Agadir is the best proof. This transformation fuses modern luxury with traditional Moroccan details to create a unique atmosphere.
10. Touching the Sky at the Guadalajara Rooftop
Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara has inaugurated its new rooftop, becoming the city’s trendiest spot. With its 360-degree views, it is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset over the capital of Jalisco.
11. A Generational Handover Full of Future
This year was also historic at an institutional level with the start of the generational handover in the company’s management. A natural step that ensures the continuity of the family values that have made RIU what it is today, always looking towards the future.
12. Heading to Thailand: Next Stop, Phuket
We closed the year with our sights set on Asia. The announcement of the start of construction for the Hotel Riu Palace Phuket in Thailand fills us with excitement; a project that marks the beginning of a new adventure in one of the world’s most exotic destinations.
