After five years working in the management of the hotels in Punta Cana, José Manuel Celdrán became the personal assistant to Luis Riu, CEO of RIU Hotels & Resorts, in 2000. Since then, Celdrán has become an “absolutely indispensable” person for Luis Riu.

The Riu Yucatan, in Playa del Carmen, was the first hotel that RIU Hotels & Resorts opened in Mexico. It was inaugurated in 1997, and since then RIU have truly strengthened their presence in this country with 22 active hotels.
