Formentera, a paradise many of us dream of, has something new that you’ll love! Our dear Riu Palace La Mola hotel, located on the idyllic Migjorn Beach and part of our family since 1973, has just rolled out its new look, a concept that blends seamlessly with the location’s Mediterranean vibe.
This marvellous hotel, which opened its doors last April, has not only been upgraded to 4-star superior, but has jumped straight into the RIU Palace range, the chain’s premium option!
It is a very special project for RIU as, for the first time, it was Roberto and Luis Riu Rodríguez, the sons of Luis Riu and members of the fourth generation of the family, who were in charge of this renovation from start to finish. They’ve made every decision, from the design to the services, giving the hotel a totally new, fresh look!

New services and completely renovated spaces at the Riu Palace La Mola
The renovation has optimised all the spaces, creating a unique atmosphere with decor that screams “Mediterranean” throughout, giving it that exclusive touch in tune with the heart of the island of Formentera.
As soon as you enter the hotel you will notice the change! The lobby is now much larger, and the terrace, which offers panoramic views, is more inviting and expansive. There is also a new stage for performances. Ready to enjoy an open-air show with views of Formentera as a backdrop?
The hotel’s 345 rooms have been completely renovated to offer greater comfort thanks to their new design. And take note – we’ve increased the number of suites, which all boast breathtaking views of the Mediterranean!
And that is not all! The culinary offerings have also been upgraded. Although the food was already one of this hotel’s strong points, be prepared for the new and improved gastronomic offering that continues to be the star of the show at the Riu Palace La Mola.
Now the hotel has a third à la carte restaurant to add to the party. So you can choose between the main restaurant “Sargantana”; the gourmet establishment “Krystal”; and “Ilios”, that snack bar by the sea that you’ve been craving!
Wait, there’s more! The gym and spa have been fully overhauled, and the solarium now features Balinese beds so you can lay back and relax to the max.
In addition, the new Riu Palace La Mola has launched a RIU Land Kid’s Club with its own pool for the little ones. That makes a total of four pools: three for adults and one for children!
A hotel that combines luxury and sustainability, proving that these concepts are not incompatible.
The Riu Palace La Mola received the Re Think Hotel award for its major sustainability and hotel renovation project, which has now come to fruition.
This accolade was achieved thanks to measures including the installation of solar panels to generate energy for the hotel, the complete renewal of the air conditioning systems, and the implementation of water-saving and waste-reduction measures, among other things.
Our Proudly Committed sustainability strategy proves that anyone who says luxury and sustainability are incompatible is simply wrong!
