"‘RIU gets the job done’ was the quote of the week. Nothing spectacular, yet family vacations are valuable, so it worked."
My list: Food- breakfast buffet was excellent each day, dinner at Steakhouse was the overal dinner favorite. We would have liked another lunch option besides the poolside buffet/ or indoor buffet. Room service- options were horrible- a few cold sandwiches and nachos. We had an allergy, even specified on the room service order app- and they still messed it up. Pools- crowded, rowdy crowds, saw a girl being wheel chaired out after vomitting. Pool drink service was good. Rooms- nothing spectacular, mini bar had a few beers and sodas. No snacks, chips etc like other resorts. Each day there were long black hairs on the floor/ bedding- def not ours. The balcony had 2 folding chairs like you’d take to a ballgame. Not comfortable. Hallways were loud & echoed with traffic all times of the night. We used a sound machine. Check in- rooms weren’t ready when we arrived, even though it was after 3:00. One couple didn’t get theirs until 4:00. Overall, RIU served its purpose and provided a great location and gathering for my family. The price was the most economical for all parties. However, I have been to many better AI resorts in the area and would not return to this one.
"EXCEPTIONAL"
My stay at Riu Kukulkan has been nothing short of exceptional! As a Jamaican, my standards for tourism products and hospitality are very HIGH, and the staff here completely surpassed my expectations. Wow! From the moment I stepped out of the taxi, I was warmly greeted by the bellhop and offered a glass of champagne. I was then assisted directly to check-in, where the reception staff were once again fantastic. The Assistant Manager even came out to personally greet us, which was a lovely touch. We arrived a bit early, so our room wasn’t quite ready yet—which is completely understandable. In the meantime, we explored the property and I was amazed by how well-maintained, clean, and pristine everything was. Before long, our room was ready. By the time we made our way upstairs, our luggage came right behind us. When I entered the room, I quite literally gasped—it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The food was also excellent. I had absolutely no issues whatsoever. Every meal was enjoyable, and the service throughout the resort was top-notch. What stood out most was the outstanding customer service and the incredible work ethic of the Mexican people. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. I will definitely be back and I’m already recommending this resort to everyone I know! It was just a bit difficult getting U.S. dollar change to tip everyone, but please know that your hard work is truly appreciated. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience! ❤️❤️ ONE LOVE 🇯🇲
