Hotel Riu Palace Calypso

The hotel has a good location, the rooms are large, well-equipped, and also very clean. The staff is friendly and very hardworking. Now for my points of criticism. The balcony is absolutely unusable during the day. There is no shade... And then the food. No idea how anyone can like bland-tasting salads and fish that has been overcooked to death multiple times. They cannot even manage the simplest dishes. Want an example? Greek salad consists of tomato, bell pepper, cucumber, onion, olives, feta, olive oil, salt, and pepper... The Greek salad offered was missing onion, real feta, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Instead, they had spread an indefinable dressing over the salad. And that is exactly how it tasted!!!! Or beef stroganoff... Beef stroganoff consists of thin strips of beef tenderloin cooked in a rich sauce of veal stock, sour cream, mustard, and spices.... An indefinable sauce with a few dry pieces of meat was offered as stroganoff. The breakfast was also very unimaginative... No highlights, always the same thing, and then even half-rotten bananas on offer. We then tried the à la carte restaurant several times. It was definitely better in terms of quality, although you had to be a fast eater..... No sooner was one course finished than the next was already on the table. Conclusion... There is still a lot of room for improvement in the gastronomy, and it is not worth four stars. They should just think about the fact that not all guests are McDonald's disciples.

Hotel with an excellent location if you want to go to the beach. It was located in front of the hotel; you went down some stairs and you were there. The beach was exceptional with turquoise and clean water. Very appropriate for walking since it was about 4 km long. The room was spacious and was very clean with a very large terrace with sea views; it had two lounge chairs, two chairs, and a small table (the bad thing is that it was so sunny and hot that you could not be on it since the sun hit it practically all day and it did not have an umbrella). The sleep quality was very good; no noise was heard. The buffet facilities were a bit small. The variety of it was repetitive although of quality and tasty food. We did not have problems getting lounge chairs. Highlight the silence in the pool area and the cleanliness. Very friendly staff, both waiters and cleaning service or reception. As weak points of the hotel, highlight the elevator, which day in and day out was either broken or blocked by the staff to bring up the cleaning carts. We had to use the stairs on several occasions and we were on the 10th floor. The juice was very bad. If you are looking for entertainment from the hotel, there was very little, one activity at the pool and some music at night. If you are looking for relaxation and tranquility, the hotel is highly recommended.
