Hotel Riu Palace Oasis

A return visit , I love their pool rooms ( always ask for 1102-20 for private side , otherwise your own pool room can face onto a communal pool with children playing and the main path to the beach). Lovely food selection breakfast and dinner. Even though it’s buffet the food is hot and large variety tasty. I visited the spa for manicure good experience- there a gym and spa and indoor pool area and another smaller outdoor pool at the back of the complex. There a gate out of the hotel garden that leads you directly onto the beach by the lighthouse and a boardwalk to restaurants and some small shops, plus the boardwalk to the Maspalomas Dunes. Highly recommend and would return. Very clean hotel and friendly staff.

When we made the reservation, we requested a shower instead of a bathtub. We arrived at the hotel and were assigned an accessible room. Just for requesting a shower. The room was on the first floor, and upon opening the curtains, to our surprise, we were five meters away from a parking lot. The room was dark, and the bathroom was adapted for people with reduced mobility. At the reception, we requested a room change, and they told us that by asking for a shower instead of a bathtub, they assumed we were people in need of an accessible room since all the rooms in their hotel had showers. As if I had designed the hotel, I should have known that. When another room becomes available, we will change it for you. They kept us in that room for two days with our luggage still packed, all for just two nights. After two days, they indeed changed our room. My question is. They do not have my email to inform me that indeed all the rooms have showers and if we have special needs? Another inconvenience was that some waiters at the garden bar conversed with us more than necessary. At the Botánico restaurant, I was served a fish that made me spend the night in the restroom, in addition to stomach pains. The towels, both from the room and the pool, were almost transparent, and to top it off, a lifeguard at the pool debated politics with me, verbally expressing ideas like "long live the right and capitalism." Amen. As the song would say, our love has ended. Never again hotels from the RIU group.
