Hotel Riu Arecas 4*

The RIU Arecas is an adults-only hotel on the edge of the Costa Adeje. Very quietly located and only a few minutes' walk from the beach and sea at the Playa Del Duque. Room We had a pool / ocean view room on the 4th. floor and were very satisfied with it. The room is sufficiently large and has enough storage space in the room and also in the bathroom. There are enough electrical outlets available. The closet had enough clothes hangers. We found the bed very comfortable and slept excellently. On the balcony there are 2 chairs and a table, so that one can still sit there comfortably in the evening. TV is large and has many German channels - but we did not really have it on. Gastronomy The buffet is very nicely presented and varied both in the morning and in the evening. There is something for every taste. There is enough of everything and it is also constantly being replenished. The chefs are doing a good job. Everything we tried was delicious. There are many different salads in the evening. In the morning, there are plenty of egg dishes, cakes/pastries, savory and sweet items. I liked the churros with Nutella best ;-) But of course, there are also plenty of healthier alternatives. Coffee and tea are available in pots, which are brought to the table. Unfortunately, we didn't find the coffee that tasty, so we switched to the coffee machine for cappuccino. We liked the atmosphere; you could sit outside or inside. We had a very friendly waiter named Julio Cesar. Service The entire staff was top-notch - super friendly and always had a smile on their faces. The reception was super friendly at check-in/out and always helpful with questions. Our room was cleaned perfectly by Carolina - she was really quick in the morning. We thought it was great. Our waiter Julio Cesar was super great and learned a little Spanish with us every day. In short, the staff at the RIU Arecas is wonderful. Pool There are 2 large pools at the main building and further down the "Beach Club" with a slightly smaller infinity pool with a view of the promenade and the sea. The pool wasn't really warm, but it was refreshing for a swim and had a really great view. Unfortunately, there are always people who feel like reserving their favorite lounge chairs at 6 a.m. but don't get moving to actually lie there until noon; that is annoying. But we still always found a free lounge chair with a nice view. Beach We liked the black sand beach Playa Del Duque right in front of the hotel / promenade. We mostly just went there to swim. The seawater was wonderful and, thanks to the breakwaters, really good for swimming. The bays are all not incredibly long but are great for swimming and also for beach walks. Tips We walked the promenade all the way to Los Cristianos - that is quite far, but absolutely worth it if you like to walk. You can make a pit stop here and there - a pint of beer for 1.50 - 2.00 euros - you can't complain about that and it also motivates you to keep walking right away ;-) In the many bargain shops and other perfumeries, you can also find a good deal here and there. Otherwise, there are the typical tourist shops along the promenade - nothing special. In front of the hotel, there are 2 supermarkets where you can buy a few drinks. Definitely rent a car and explore the island yourself. We were in Teide National Park, the Anaga Mountains, Candelaria, Masca, Garachico, Vilaflor, Icod, etc. It was 2 great days of driving where we saw and experienced a lot. You can rent the car directly at the reception - that worked out quickly and easily. There is also an Avis counter and diagonally across from the hotel is a SIXT. The parking spaces in front of the hotel are free but also fill up quickly - when we came back one evening, there were no spaces left and we had to ask at the reception and switch to a 9 euro hotel parking space. Around the hotel, there are also a few spaces on the street - attention - parking is only allowed at white lines. Accessibility We reached the hotel by TUI transfer bus in about 30 minutes - the return trip took maybe 45 minutes, as a few more hotels were visited. There are bus stops everywhere, and you can also find your way around well with a rental car and Google Maps.

After a shaky start to the holiday as room was very noisy we where changed the next day to a lovely quiet room the staff where wonderful and very understanding the hotel is spotless and the food was great could not fault it at all hope to be back for a third time next year all going well thanking you all for a lovely holiday the Kinsella family ireland
