Get ready for a virtual trip that’s sure to whet your appetite.
Jamaica: great food in a tropical setting
The event, entitled “Temptation of the senses”, took place at the Krystal restaurant in the Riu Palace Tropical Bay hotel, a very special establishment for the hotel chain, as it was the first to open its doors in Jamaica, in 2001.

Executive Chefs Edgar Galan and O’Neil Vernon welcomed the diners and offered a detailed explanation of the inspiration and technique behind their creations. Being able to learn first-hand what inspires a chef to create a dish is a real treat.

To complete the experience, each gourmet dish was paired with a carefully selected wine, designed to enhance the flavours and make the evening a delight for all five senses.

Only a select group of guests were able to enjoy this experience, including RIU Diamond members, for whom this hotel is essentially a second home. Some have stayed here more than 20 times!

The menu: Caribbean flavour in every dish
At this point you’re probably wondering: what was on the menu? Good question! The Jamaican flavour was essential, and it was the predominant note throughout the night.
The evening began with jerk chicken spring rolls and curried goat tart. The main dishes were Jamaican lobster and boneless oxtail accompanied by breadfruit risotto and typical Jamaican vegetables. For the sweet course, there was a combination of churros, Jamaican gizzada and fruitcake, a very typical Jamaican dessert, but on this occasion bathed in tequila. There was Caribbean flavour in every bite!
