The Riu Plaza Chicago is about to open its doors. We give you all the details!

We can’t wait to tell you that we are getting closer and closer to the famous “City of Skyscrapers”… Chicago! As we announced at the end of 2021, this summer RIU Hotels & Resorts is landing in the third most populous city in the USA with the aim of taking a further step in its strategy to expand its urban brand, bringing the total number of hotels in the Riu Plaza line to 11 in the main cities of America and Europe.

Magnificent Mile, a unique location in the heart of the city

The hotel is a 28-floor skyscraper with 390 rooms located at 150 East Ontario Street, in the Streeterville neighbourhood, very close to the popular Magnificent Mile shopping area. We are very proud of this new project. The hotel’s interior design is understated and luxurious, just like the rooms, where you won’t want for anything. And the best part? The incredible views of the beautiful Chicago skyline.

This iconic area is the beating heart of Chicago, a legendary stretch of Michigan Avenue that exudes glamour, luxury and energy. This renowned shopping and entertainment destination invites you to immerse yourself in a world of high-end shopping, world-class dining and stunning architecture. In addition to the great shopping opportunities, this vibrant thoroughfare is also home to a variety of tourist attractions, like the John Hancock Center and Water Tower Place, which offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city and unforgettable experiences. Without a doubt, the Magnificent Mile is a window into the glamour and grandeur of Chicago that you can enjoy first-hand from the Riu Plaza Chicago.

An innovative skyscraper with a sky bar and glass balcony… 88 metres up in the air!

The style of the Riu Plaza Chicago follows in the architectural tradition of the Chicago School, characterised by its innovative approach to skyscraper construction by combining the use of steel and glass structures with ornate and detailed designs. From the majesty of the Auditorium Building to the timeless elegance of the Rookery, the legacy of the Chicago School continues to inspire architects and lovers of urban beauty around the world.

Just like the Riu Plaza España in Madrid, this hotel has an impressive roof terrace on the 26th floor that gives its skybar unique views of the city. As you can see in the image of the model of the terrace, the highlight will be the glass balcony. The feeling of floating 88 metres up is something only for the bravest, although being able to see the city at your feet is something you should not miss if you travel to Chicago.

We recommend that you explore iconic museums like the Art Institute of Chicago, where you can delight in masterpieces by legendary artists, or stroll through the famous Millennium Park and take a photo in front of the Cloud Gate sculpture, known as “The Bean”. And we have to mention the fascinating Navy Pier, where you will find endless entertainment, from Ferris wheels to live shows. And all very close to the Riu Plaza Chicago!

Do you like music? Chicago is for you! The city has a rich musical history, from blues in the clubs on the South Side to jazz in the Loop bars.
