The big party of the year! This weekend the buzz was all about the big celebration that took place at the Riu Plaza Guadalajara hotel. The establishment was decked out in its finery to host the celebration of RIU’s 25th anniversary in Mexico. Local authorities, partners, members of the Tapatian society, as well as RIU executives gathered with the members of the third and fourth generation of the Riu family to share this special moment.

25 years of working together in Mexico
Everyone celebrated RIU’s affection for this country, which has become its main international destination. Its friendly people, spectacular climate and breathtaking landscapes have made Mexico a destination that captivates all who visit it. In total, RIU has 22 hotels in its portfolio in the country. Each and every one of them is special thanks to the staff who make it all possible. Without them and without you, we would not have reached this wonderful 25th anniversary.

Where was RIU’s 25th anniversary celebrated in Mexico?
The main terrace of the hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara was the venue for the start of this event, which was so special for all of us who make up the RIU family. The guests received a welcome cocktail on arrival while enjoying the music of a traditional mariachi band. How could it be any other way? The star attraction, presiding over this great event, was the hotel’s tower, illuminated in red in honour of the 25th anniversary and the RIU chain.
A video mapping show was projected onto the same tower, which took us on a journey through the different states where RIU is present. Everyone in attendance was able to enjoy this beautiful tribute in the form of images and movement accompanied by Mexican music, a dance of emotions!
The Guadalajara Room was the setting chosen for the dinner. Before the guests were able to enjoy the delicacies prepared for the occasion, they were treated to emotional speeches, including one by Carmen Riu, who was responsible for introducing the 25th anniversary video. She was accompanied by Francisco Xavier Orendáin de Obeso, General Strategic Coordinator of Growth and Economic Development of the State of Jalisco; Claudia Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Jalisco and Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico.
Riu Party, the night’s big surprise
Saving the best for last! Once the dinner had finished, the Live Band Covers warmed up the atmosphere and energised the guests. Surprise! After half an hour of music, the lights in the room were switched off to create the perfect atmosphere for the Riu Party! A spectacle of light, colour and packed full of action that in just a few minutes showcased the energy and quality of the parties that are held in an increasing number of RIU hotels.
After the Riu Party, the band returned to continue their performance, making all the guests get up and dance.
The party was certainly the perfect finale to a year of celebrations to mark this emotional 25th anniversary for the RIU chain, which has invested so much love and affection in this much-loved country. Thank you so much Mexico, for everything you have given to the RIU chain. Together there have been, in addition to 25 years, countless experiences, professionalism and service that is an example for many other destinations…
