Yesterday, for the third year in a row, RIU Hotels & Resorts held a large party in its Riu Plaza Berlin hotel to make the most of the fact that the German capital is currently hosting the Berlin International Travel Trade Show (ITB), bringing together the leading representatives of world tourism year after year. Carmen Riu, managing director of the chain, hosted the event that was attended by over 300 guests. This year’s event has been extra special for the chain given that it has also served as the public presentation of their recently re-launched brand image.

On this occasion the hotel chain from Mallorca took the opportunity to pay homage to their Riu Plaza urban hotels, given that this line of business has been one of the chain’s biggest focuses in recent years. It currently has six Riu Plaza hotels located in Guadalajara (Mexico), Miami, New York, Panama, Dublin and Berlin. RIU plans to keep this segment growing in the main cities around the world.

As a nod to this trend, for its annual party at the Riu Plaza Berlin, RIU Hotels created different eating areas to represent each of the cities with a Riu Plaza hotel. As such, guests could try dishes typical of New York, Panama or even a tasty German Bratwurst. They also enjoyed a huge selection of drinks and cocktails, as well as live music with a DJ who kept guests on the dance floor until the small hours.

The event brought together leading professionals from the industry, from tour-operators to travel websites, as well as traditional and online agencies and political representatives from Spain’s main holiday destinations.

The Riu Plaza Berlin hotel opened its doors to the public at the end of 2015 and has 357 double rooms and suites. The hotel is located on Ku’Damm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin and just 350 metres from KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens), Germany’s most famous shopping centre.
