After five months of hard work we are now able to bring you some great news: the Riu Palace Oasis in Gran Canaria has just reopened! Having undergone a total renovation, one of our favourite Canary Island hotels has opened its doors, projecting its modernity and elegance through having regained its five-star status. Let us introduce the ‘new’ Riu Palace Oasis!
On your arrival you will be taken aback by the spectacular changes in the lobby area. The mirror-tiled pillars have been replaced by imposing white columns that create a huge marble walkway leading to the check-in area. The feeling of luxury and space transmitted by this entrance will only increase when you come to the art installation in the form of a giant chandelier inspired by the dunes of Maspalomas. It really is amazing!
Apart from all the changes to the decor, what now defines the hotel is the way it has been opened up to natural light, with spacious terraces and exterior areas leading you out to look over the magnificent garden. This has been created to provide the hotel with some unique spaces while respecting the pre-existing palm trees.
Another of the main attractions of the Riu Palace Oasis is the creation of a new style of bedroom: the exclusive swim-up double rooms! There are 43 of them in total, each with a pool for private use where you can cool off in your own individually designed space. Thanks to this extensive renovation, the 415 bedrooms of the hotel exude an understated elegance, using simply styled furniture with straight lines combined with decor features reminiscent of the sixties, which was when the building was first constructed.
The new half board option will give guests the chance to try out a wide range of gastronomic experiences: the fusion specialities served in the “Krystal” restaurant; the buffet and live cooking on show in the main “Promenade” dining room; and a selection of snacks in the “Botánico”, which offers the best of Spanish cuisine in the evenings. You can also realx in “The Palm” bar, the “Lido” Lounge Bar and the “Onix” Lobby Bar.
The public areas have also been refurbished, meaning that the hotel now offers four swimming pools, one of them for children located in the other new feature – the RiuLand kiddies’ club. The gym, spa area and car park have also be given comprehensive makeovers, the latter being of particular importance to the local customers who visit the hotel.
We know that the regular guests of the Riu Palace Oasis were as excited as us to enjoy their favourite hotel, which has been completely renovated. Following its opening, Carlos Sanz Barasoain and Nieves Gomez Overejo, who are both from Navarra (Spain), and are repeat guests of this Gran Canaria hotel, were the very first guests. How lovely to see them again!
In Gran Canaria there are now only two hotels left to renovate whereupon we can raise a glass to an accommodation offer that is unique on the island. What we are entirely sure of is that this completely remodelled property will continue to enchant in the way it always has. Would you like to know more?
