Come and see the Riu Plaza España hotel!

At RIU we continue to be really excited by all the major news we have had this year. Now it is the turn of the Riu Plaza España hotel which opened its doors this August and is now fully operational. This hotel is very special to us because it is the first in our Riu Plaza line in Spain.

We are very proud of the result. After several months of work we can finally invite you to come and see us in Madrid, right in the centre! This hotel has preserved the aesthetics of a bygone era, maintaining the structure of the iconic Edificio España. What’s more, within the building itself we have preserved plenty of the elements that formed part of the city’s heritage and you can take an original photo with them. Come and see for yourself!

What are the rooms like?

The Riu Plaza España hotel has a total of 585 rooms which are equipped with everything you could possibly need in order to enjoy your visit to the capital of Spain.

One of our goals was to maintain the essence of this building and to ensure you would have a unique experience here. This is why the decor of the rooms is a mix of classic and modern styles which will help you appreciate the building and its history.

We can glimpse hints of the past in the upholstery of the headboards and in the wooden furniture. These are only two of many examples we could highlight given that not one single aspect of the decoration has been left to chance. It is as if you were traveling back to the 1950s or 60s! The bathrooms in the rooms also feature white marble which lends an elegant feel to the atmosphere.

What services does the Riu Plaza España hotel offer?

1.      Swimming pool with views of Madrid

Who hasn’t dreamed of taking a dip in a pool with views of Madrid? This hotel lets you do just that, with its heated outdoor pool on floor 21 which also has its own sun lounger area!

2.      Terrace with 360º views and the “De Madrid al cielo” bar

Two of the best kept secrets of this hotel are its terrace on the building’s top floor and a bar with a movida madrileña theme.

The terrace is located on the 27th floor and provides 360º views thanks to the glass walkway that connects to the building and from where you can take a photo to post on social media. On this terrace you can discover the city from on high with its panoramic views in an exquisitely decorated space.

On the floor below you will find the sky bar called “De Madrid al Cielo”. As we have already mentioned, this has a very special theme which will not fail to surprise you and will bring back fond memories for many of you.

3.      Conference Rooms

Another of this building’s strong points and something which has also preserved its essence are the meeting rooms that are a nod to its business past. The hotel boasts 17 conference rooms spanning 3000m2 which are equipped with everything needed to carry out business events. The hotel also has a terrace on the 21st floor designed for special events.

We cannot end this post without highlighting the beautiful and elegant lobby that has been preserved thanks to its decoration hailing from a previous era. We guarantee that as soon as you set foot in the hotel you are going to find yourself immersed in a vintage Madrid.
